Music Makers

Suitable for all for children, young people with additional needs, and their families who are interested in learning to play new instruments, sing songs and make new friends.

Music Makers are family friendly music making sessions. They enable young people to explore instruments as well as short group activities where we sing and make music together.

Sessions are suitable for all children and young people with additional needs, and their families, who are interested in learning to play new instruments, sing songs and make music with new friends.

Our sessions focus on giving a voice to people with severe and profound learning disabilities. The group currently has a core membership of around 8-10 children and young people. We deliver five sessions per term, on Saturdays between 10-10.45am. They take place in the studio at The Core, Homer Road, Touchwood, Solihull, B91 3RG.

The group celebrates the belief that everyone has their own unique way of sharing their voice.

A few examples of ways our young people join in:

  • Singing or vocalisations
  • Making sounds with an instrument
  • Using technology e.g. an iPad or Soundbeam
  • Movement and dance
  • Signing*

We aim to be as inclusive as possible and welcome all voices. We actively try to remove barriers to participation from those with severe and profound learning disabilities.
